Puma legacy collection

I was given the amazing  opportunity to photograph an editorial for PUMA and their new Legacy II collection. This collection celebrates Black History Month and pays homage to David T. Howard who founded an Atlanta School in 1948 which was a game changer for African Americans. 

Rather than showcase these young black men in a gym with a basketball, I wanted to change the narrative and have the them in a setting that incites reflection and shock because rarely do we see our youth holding  a book in their hands. I won’t analyze  these shots for you , I’ll leave that up to the reader but  I would like to mention that one of my inspirations  was  the famous photo of Huey P Newton sitting in his peacock chair. I am sure you’ve seen it before..
